By the age of five I was already following my mom around the daycare. As I grew older, I found myself working with children of all ages after school. Over the years I have been their cook, their teacher, a director and now, the owner. I have an Associates of Arts degree in Early Childhood and serve on the advisory board for Children’s Home Aid Society. I also became a trainer for the Illinois Network of Child Care Resources and Referral Agency.
One very valuable lesson my mom passed down to me was to always see the positive influences all around me. As I continue on my life’s path, I have found if you find what you love to do… do it! Positive was my mom’s middle name and all through her life her glass was always half full. She saw a need in the community for a place where children could be creative and find the inspiration to explore and learn while having fun! My vision is to continue down this path of caring and nurturing children to help them obtain a love of learning and to appreciate others and their differences.
As a parent of a young child, I have been put in the position of finding just the right school. And along with that, finding the right teacher, the proper environment and the feeling my child will be safe and given the opportunity to adjust and then flourish.I feel we have the homelike environment, the nurturing staff and all the childhood experience needed to give your child the right start and parents the peace of mind when leaving their child.
I am very grateful for the longevity of my dedicated staff. We have been together for many years. We have grown as a family and have supported each other through good times and times that have been challenging. We support each others strengths and show respect for one another. My creative mind keeps me on the lookout for new and not so new items for the center and for the enjoyment of the children. Many of my finds are from yard sales and seeing the excitement on the children’s faces makes getting up early on a Saturday morning worth while. Over the years we have added new outdoor learning experiences, while using mother nature as our canvas. As the seasons change, we find there are always new items for the children to explore.
My husband Art, our son Luke and our daughter Kimberly enjoy spending our away time boating and traveling in our motor home.
The joys of motherhood are a wonderful blessing.
